Project Name | Probabilistic evaluation of an intelligent traffic system performance for a 1.5M inhabitants area |
Client | GTT (Italy) |
Industry | Public transportation |
Project Objective | The city of Torino pioneered Intelligent Traffic Systems applications. The first system was the object of numerous measures and tests during the '70s. Riskope was asked to help defining the actual “real” benefit the system has delivered to the city. Measures (time, speed, etc.) were taken, but the “city-system” had so dramatically changed from inception to date that comparing the measured results in the '70 and in 2012 was considered meaningless. |
Project Scope | Riskope analyzed the historic and present system devising a list of “benefit drivers”. Each driver's effect was considered as a “upside risk” (of traffic being more fluid, speed increasing, etc.) and final a total “upside risk” estimate was derived leading to an estimate of the “adjusted” benefits. |
Result | It was possible to gain a detailed understanding of the efficiency and efficacy of the system all along the forty years of service. These results allow decision making on further enhancements and possible widening of the equipped areas. |
