Project Objective | Evaluate transportation risks for existing railroads, but also compare risks of present status with possible future statuses including tunnelling alternatives. Evaluate possible gains due to layout enhancements, variations in the risks during or after deployment of mitigative measures. |
Project Scope | Evaluate risks before and after risk mitigating efforts including tunnels, rock-falls nets systems, etc. Develop multi-hazards risk assessments for over 1,000km of rail, including the identification of more than hundred of key hazards. |
Result | Being able to focus mitigative work in the areas with the highest intolerable risks, to communicate risks to unions, support legal decisions, and establishing a roadmap. |
